School integration advocates made public a letter to Chancellor of Schools Carmen Fariña sent in October of 2015.  Although the Chancellor has made progress in addressing some of the letter’s recommendations, advocates are pressing the Department of Education to adopt the letter’s first recommendation — a formal policy of prioritizing school diversity — called for in New York Appleseed’s Within Our Reach series and by the City Council in the School Diversity Accountability Act.
