Thanks to the School Diversity Accountability Act, the New York City Department of Education released its first annual report with data essential to understanding segregation and the effects of demographic change in the city’s schools.  The report also lists steps that the Department took to increase school diversity in 2015.  These steps include expanding versions of the PS 133 admissions-plan model to seven more schools and expanding the number of high schools using “Educational-Option” admissions models — reversing a trend under the prior administration.  Both were longtime New York Appleseed goals.
