New York Appleseed is proud to announce a new partnership with Epic Theatre Ensemble’s youth company Epic Next. This summer five young people from the LAUNDRY CITY Company interviewed over 30 educators, policy experts, parents and students on the topic of educational segregation and created the original play LAUNDRY CITY — a hilarious and provocative exploration of what “Separate but Equal” means to us today. Introduced by School Diversity Project Director Matt Gonzales, Epic performed Laundry City on September 22nd at Teachers College, Columbia University for an audience of students, educators, parents, and researchers. New York Appleseed will be working to bring Laundry City to venues all across the city. Contact Matt Gonzales if you would like to plan a performance at a venue in your community!
