The New York State Education Department announced a new grant program to promote socioeconomic diversity in up to 25 of the state’s low-performing Priority and Focus Schools. New York City is eligible for eight grants. New York Appleseed hailed the pilot program as trailblazing effort by a state to use federal School Improvement Grant funds to promote integration.
