President Obama’s budget request for education released this week includes Stronger Together, a federal grant program to support school districts across the nation “with strong voluntary, community-developed plans that increase socioeconomic diversity in their schools.” With this significant initiative, Acting Secretary of Education John King Jr. would essentially extend to the entire country the Socioeconomic Integration Pilot Program New York Appleseed and worked with him to create while he served as Commissioner of Education for New York State.
