Another Victory for New York City

New York Appleseed celebrated an important victory in November 2015 when New York City Chancellor Carmen Fariña announced that seven more schools in gentrifying areas of the city would be permitted to adopt pro-diversity admissions priorities.  The new policy represents a first step by the de Blasio administration in meeting the challenges of demographic change in the schools.  New York Appleseed was privileged to provide support to several of the schools in making formal requests for new admissions plans.  This victory builds on the groundbreaking success of community stakeholders supported by New York Appleseed in securing the PS 133 plan three years ago.
