Reality: There is a reciprocal relationship between residential segregation and school segregation. As this article points out, segregated schools labeled as “good” cause housing prices to go up in the surrounding areas and push out low-income families from neighborhoods. “[L]abeling schools in poor communities and communities of color as bad could make it even tougher to create integrated schools.”
